Applying for Residency

Consideration for entrance to the Collingwood Arts Center is based on the information in your application, portfolio and artist review.

After passing the business requirements (favorable prior rental history, references, employment, and police report) you are then interviewed by the Admissions Review Board. Your portfolio is shared, playbills presented, talents examined, and your goals are discussed.

Upon admittance to the Center, you are asked for the first month's rent, a deposit equal to the monthly rental rate, and given a booklet concerning the rules and regulations of living at the Center.

Residents are encouraged to volunteer several hours a month in a variety of areas, from housekeeping duties to opening the theatre or ushering for an event, painting, etc. In this manner we are able to keep our expenses low and, as a result, attempt to avoid increases in rent.

The cost of running the facility is higher than the rental payments received, and by subsidizing the costs through grants, donations, and other areas of income, we keep our pricing reasonable so artists can concentrate on their art.
