The Collingwood Arts Center presents
Summer Youth Arts Enrichment Programming

Through the art enrichment activities of the Collingwood Arts Center, (CAC) the Resident Artists will act to achieve new heights of awareness and positive activity amongst the youth and young adults participating in this project. We aim to bring new and exciting alternatives of art activities to the area of the underserved populations, and engage the participants in literary, performing, music, and visual arts. By offering artistic freedom, skill building and a positive social atmosphere, the CAC will work to bring about a positive connection to the community, the adults, and the youth it serves.

STAR Instructors, who live / work / create at the CAC, have designed art activities that give each participant an instructional workshop of various forms, and general information to support the history of the particular art form they are facilitating. Through the creative process of each art activity, the participants will continue to use their basic reading, writing and math skills. Education is the key to success, the STAR project promotes art enrichment activities as a tool to re-enforce the basic education skills already learned.

Students will be given instruction on methods of carving a relief block, building collagraph images out of found textures, as well as printing, registering and editioning multiple copies of hand pulled images.
